All About My Shiny New Logo

Lately, as I hope you can tell, I've been spending time improving the look and function of my web site. I've fixed many cross-browser and cross-os problems compatability issues. One of the bigger problems that I took care of was my logo. I always loved the way it looked, but I decided maybe I need to look a little harder.

The original logo was a sample of my girlfriend's handwriting, that I had brought into flash and converted from a bitmap to a vector image.

From there I animated vector, frame by frame, erasing a piece of the shape from the previous frame. This creates an effect that simulates text is being written, only backwards. To fix this I simply highlight the animated frames, right click, select reverse frames. This makes a smooth hand-written effect.

The finished product is a simple, yet elegant flash animated sequence.

This logo was okay, but I decided that I wanted more. I spent lots of time with Flash's drawing tools, the pen in particular. I followed the perimeter of the finished shape smoothing and improving the overall look of the type. Eventually I got an image that I was satisfied with. I took the steps discussed above and animated this new logo as well.
